    4/14/2013 - Danny Wadsworth - 04/14/13

"Yellowfin tuna are trickling in and giant Bluefin tuna are still in our waters. A dozen boats departed the inlet this morning headed south to find the gulf stream current. Big Al on the Country Girl had the best of it getting hit by yellowfin twice. Some boats got hit by tuna, others did not. Point Runner had our first yellowfin bites of the year landing a couple for our anglers from the Northern Neck of VA. Lisa and Tom Gale, and Lisa and Clay Holcomb. We enjoyed calm seas, saw a couple of whales, porpoises, and later in the day we witnessed giant Bluefin tuna leaping out of the water chasing bait. Hard as we tried, we never hooked one but some were caught and released by other boats. We are all hoping the stream moves a little closer by next weekend."

3-24-13 our first bigeye tuna of the year - Danny Wadsworth - 03/24/13

"Glad we made the day because it looks like the next couple of days will not be fit for fishing. We had a great day with the Gorman's from Takoma Park MD. 13 yr old John, 11 yr old Will, Frank, and Greg. Outrigger and Tuna Fever found some fish on the Point. We jogged on up there and set out. Got the mark and hooked our first tuna which was an 85 incher too big for the slot. The next bite was a perfect 72 inch 200 pounder which went on ice. The third bite was a 122 pound bigeye which also got covered with ice for the ride home. Some boats had a half dozen bites on their green stick. And Bi-Op-Sea caught the seasons first blue marlin in the same area. This could only happen in North Carolina."

    3-15-13 six hundred pounder - Danny Wadsworth - 03/15/13

"Steve Donovan was hoping to catch some fresh sushi to take home. Looks like he will need a bigger cooler. Three fish had already been battled by Steve, his son Stephen, and Michelle Muller....in the 300 to 400 pound size, which were too big to keep. I had told them we are allowed to possess one fish per day under 73 inches. We are also permitted to take only one Giant bluefin over 73 inches per year and were holding off for a trophy fish over 100 inches. And then, luckily, this wicked tuna hit on the troll for Jill Muller from Connecticut. She stayed in the chair battling the giant for two hours until finally Scotty set the gaff. It was 102 inches 609 pounds."

2-16-13 first bluefin trip was success - Danny Wadsworth - 02/16/13

"Our guys landed a 68 inch keeper bluefin which weighed about 160 pounds and will provide plenty of meat for the table. They caught and released other fish up to 400 pounds. With the strong sign of fish found today, it should be ""game on"" for the next month or so. Let us help you enjoy this exceptional sportfishing opportunity. Call Capt Danny at 252-473-3773."

12-26-12 The bluecoats are coming! - Danny Wadsworth - 12/26/12

"Bluefin tuna that is. Over the last several years, this early season fishery has provided plenty of exciting action, so you don't have to wait until springtime to go offshore fishing. Beginning mid-Feb thru April, we will target bluefin and yellowfin tuna. The 60' Point Runner has warm heated cabin and equipped for every situation.....trolling, greenstick, jigging. You are also welcome to bring your own jigging/popping tackle. Scotty and I hope to see you during the ""giant"" season, or whenever you can get to the Outer Banks during 2013. Need more information? Call capt Danny at 252-473-3773. or email danny@pointrunner.com"

"The project is coming along nicely, and yes we are going back with the same colors. The hull has already been repainted with Stars & Stripes blue. The decks and bridge could be done before Christmas. Next time you fish with us you'll be surprised by a new addition in the cockpit."

It's a wrap. Point Runner is going into the paint shed today. We could not make our last few trips because of heavy seas along the Outer Banks. We expect to come out of the barn looking shiny and new ready to target big bluefin tuna from mid-January thru March. Our bluefin fishing has been amazing the last few years and we can't wait to hunt for the giants. Give us a call to line up a trip. 252-473-3773. or email danny@pointrunner.com Here are some bluefin tuna pics from last season. wwww.pointrunner.com

    11/11/2012 - Danny Wadsworth - 11/12/12

"Our group from the Northern Neck of VA, Jacob Hayden, Warren Hayes, Shawn Coates, Kenny Gordon, Ronnie Oliff, and Derek Berhalter, enjoyed being on the ocean on such a beautiful day. Half of the 30 boats fishing along the ledge near the Point made great catches of a dozen or more tuna. Lots of marks on the fish finders but it took a little luck to get hooked up. The only multiples we hooked were albacore. The guys did land a half dozen tuna including a citatation 26 pound blackfin. We found a small school of mahi but only a couple would bite. If we could have held on the other yellowfin and wahoo bites we missed, you would see a lot better picture. Hey guys, maybe we will fill the box next time....and be sure to bring some Northern Neck Ginger Ale."

    11/10/2012 - Danny Wadsworth - 11/10/12

"The fleet got back out today following this week's nor'easter. However Point Runner had to return to the dock before we made it into the ocean. We fouled a prop with storm debris which turned out to be a piece of canvas tarp. By the time we located a diver to help us out it was too late to head offshore. Boats returned this afternoon with mixed catches from 2 to a dozen yellowfin. Also a few wahoo, sails, and blue marlin were reported. Hope we have better luck tomorrow."

    11/3/2012 - Danny Wadsworth - 11/03/12

"Michael Merriett and friends of SC braved the choppy seas and were rewarded with 2 sailfish, 5 yellowfin, and a nice King. We lost another good size yellowfin and wahoo also. Tomorrow the seas are expected to calm down and we are hoping the fish bite better. Thanks for checking in."

    10/29/2012 - Danny Wadsworth - 10/29/12

"There has been some flooding and damage along the Outer Banks from Ocracoke to Duck. The Avalon pier picture below was posted on ""The Outer Banks Voice"". Tonight is when we are most likely to experience sound-side flooding as Hurricane Sandy continues her wide path northward. For now, the Point Runner seems to be riding well in a slip at Pirates Cove in Manteo. We are hoping for the best, and we wish good luck to all our friends up the coast."

    10-21-12 tuna - Danny Wadsworth - 10/21/12

"There should be two more yellowfin and a wahoo in the picture below if only the rascals had not pulled off. We searched from the Point to the 680 for yellowfin putting a half dozen on ice plus a couple of blackfin. I am sure Richard Morgan and friends would like to have filled the box but this looks like a lot of meat for the table. Same as yesterday we went over a lot of good marks without getting a bite. One day soon, it will be game on for yellowfin. Thanks to Mark, Richie, Hunter, Kevin, Sean, and Tom."

    10-12&14-2012 - Danny Wadsworth - 10/14/12

"The last couple of trips we have gone to the Point hoping to find more yellowfin. It is time for them to arrive! On Fri the 12th, we had no tuna bite but luckily landed a couple of nice wahoo for Tim Schrock and friends. The best catches Friday was with wahoo up on the 900 line. Saturday the 13th was to rough to fish, but today Sunday the 14th was calm. Pretty water had moved over the Point so we tried there again. Some boats caught more tuna than we did, but there is nothing wrong with this catch of mahi, tuna and a wahoo for Tim Holsinger, Jeffery, Leroy, Eddie, Tracy, and Brian. Thanks guys, hope to see you again next year."

    10-10-12 wahoo world - Danny Wadsworth - 10/10/12

"It was wahoo and blackfin on the menu today. The OIFC booking desk put together a make-up group for us. Jim, Tim, Jarrod, Ellis, Lex, and Ben will have plenty of wahoo and tuna to enjoy on the grill. We fished in deeper water most of the day hoping to find a school of yellowfin, but after hearing about boats having wahoo bites, we shallowed up and caught a couple. One boat caught 10 hoos today."

10-7-12 Another blue marlin plus some meat - Danny Wadsworth - 10/07/12

"We spent most of the morning trying for yellowfin tuna near the tip of the Point. We were lucky to catch a 40 and 50 pounder but no more bites. We trolled toward a weedline where some mahi had been caught and on the way landed a sailfish and wahoo. We had half limit of dolphin when a blue marlin got after one of our fish. Everyone was startled by the explosive strike right behind the stern. Scotty jumped into action and live baited a mahi....seconds later the marlin was hooked up. Mickey Meador did a nice job getting the 400 pounder to the boat quickly. Glad the weather cooperated for the Powell family who have fished aboard Point Runner for many years. Don, Rick, Brian, and Steve Powell, John Webb, and Mickey. Hope to see you guys again next year."

    10-5-12 October blue marlin - Danny Wadsworth - 10/05/12

"Congrats to Will Gilman of King William VA for catching a blue marlin today. The sight of a blue marlin jumping behind the boat never gets old. Will, along with his frineds Gerald Simpson, David Hanky, and Susan Hanky made a pretty good haul of 9 yellowfin and 10 dolphin too. We expect more yellowfin to be moving in so give us a call to line up your Fall meat fishing trip. 252-473-3773"

"We spent the day with some very nice folks from White Lake NC. Eddie and Kitty Nye, Cole Nye, Lee Cole, and Will Cole. The sea conditions were choppy this morning but settled out nicely during the day. We landed a good catch of blackfin and pup yellowfin tuna. Hope to see you folks again soon."

9-22-12 fun day with marlin - Danny Wadsworth - 09/22/12

"This crowd from Monroe NC has fished out of OI many times and filled the box with tuna. This trip they targeted marlin since the billfish bite is going strong. Honestly, we had so many bites we should have landed at least a dozen. Still, plenty of excitement as we reeled 8 boatside. Several came aboard for a photo before being released. Thanks to Tim Edwards, Allen Helms, David Wilson, Joshua Edwards, Luke Wilson, and Jordan Edwards. Thanks guys, lets do it again sometime."

    9-21-12 over 300 marlin - Danny Wadsworth - 09/21/12

"This was our first day out following 3 days of rough seas. The Oregon Inlet marlin fleet caught over 300 billfish today. At 2:30 Qualifier reported 26, Pelican reported 15, and several other boats were in double digits. I heard that the Fishing center ran out of citation forms. Best action was in the 900's. Point Runner went into the 600's with several other charters looking for meat. It was scrappy. Some mahi, a few blackfin, and a few yellowfin were caught. We were lucky enough to catch 2 sails, and a white for Jonathan Swift, Brian Leid, and Matt Hill along with a little meat for the cooler."

    9-17-12 we did what the Redskins couldn't - Danny Wadsworth - 09/17/12

"We pulled it out in the second half. Not much action for us in the morning but the afternoon was busy for Brian, Marshall, Ed, Brian, Dave and Kevin. In fact Kevin Langdon caught a blackfin tuna worthy of an NC saltwater citation 24 pounds! Our largest yellowfin was 54 pounds. Thanks guys, enjoy the sashami and grilled tuna during your stay in Avon. Hope to see you again next year."

    9-14-12 box of meat - Danny Wadsworth - 09/14/12

"Our crew requested meat and we delivered. We went to the Point and filled the box with blackfin tuna, 3 yellowfin tuna, and 2 nice wahoo. Thanks to Dave Umstot Lenny Glenn, Cathy Weitzell, David Weitzell, Jr Weitzell and Travis Jewell for fishing with us today. Boats targeting marlin had an epic day. Couldn't cpimt all the flags flying at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center."
