Today, based on a few old timers recollection (which if theirs is like mine ain't too good) was the best sailfish bite ever out of Oregon Inlet. We caught & released 13 sailfish and had three triple headers, of which we only caught one each time. Must have seen 100 fish tailing on the surface. Four boats in the fleet caught 10 or more.....none of us even had enough sailfish flags and had to use white marlin flags since all the shops are out of flags, as saifishing has been great up and down the coast! Brandon Ruggiero, age 16, Brett Freidman, age 13 and Chris Ruggeiro, age 12 , each caught 2 sailfish, unassisted and standing up..... these were to date the biggest fish any of them had ever caught. Father Chris Ruggiero and William Auth, from Long Island, NY caught the other sails in an action packed day of fishing!!
