William Ayers, from Greer, SC, fourteen years old and never having caught anything larger than a 3 lb largemouth bass, started the day by catching and releasing a 100 lb blue marlin after a 20 minute battle on standup 30 lb test line. A while latter he caught one of a double header of white marlin. At the very end of the day, some of his crew passed up their turn and let William catch a sailfish we raised just before quitting time, to give him a personal grand slam, only the second one ever caught on the Obsession, and the only one I am aware of out of North Carolina this year! Father Jerry Ayers, and Tommy Tomason, both from Greer, SC each released white marlin, and Robin and Robert Brown, from South Carolina each released sailfish, giving us 1 Blue marlin, 3 sailfish and 3 white marlin for the day......thats fishing!!
