RE: Sea Bass Snapper closures posted by Patrick Caton

The loran line is about the 310 I think, but it is just an imaginary line in the ocean off of Cape Hatteras and has nothing to do with the sea bass population. We will still be able to fish for sea bass off of Hatteras, except where they are the thickest. Yes Jack, you guys got screwed big time. Fishing regulations are getting more and more restrictive every day, but the science and data used to justify these regulations is way off. I recently called Duane Harris, Chairman for the SAMFC to ask him some questions about why things are so screwed up and it was like talking to my dog. I got a runaround on most of the questions and after about 10 minuites he diden't have any more time for me. Give this guy a call his number is (912)-638-9430. Ask him, why dose North Carolina have the same regulations as Flordia? How long will it take to rebuild the fish "stock"? Why has there been no NOAA research vessels collecting data off of Hatteras? Have they considered pollution, natural cycles, and natural fish kills as part of the reason the fish are "overfished"? Why is a grouper and tile fish grouped together in the same limit? What proof do you have that there is "overfishing" going on? Why is the fishing so good if there is such a lack of fish? That was just a few of many questions I wanted to ask but was cut off.
