Roanoke River May 11th posted by gottaflylee

The Stripers went off this afternoon! More sex happened today in the Roanoke River than will in the USA for the next week!
We got our 100+ fish day early ( all on fly) after we got back on the water this afternoon and it was up hill after that. Fish were spawning every where you looked with 30 to 40 pods up and doing it at any one time. Darnest thing was NO top water bites? Whats up with that??? Thunder storm came and chased us off the water about 5:30 PM with lots of rain and wind...first time this season that happened. Fishing should be good for another week at least, if they hold the water level where it is and we should get another push of fish move up. Tomorrow is my last booked day on the river but I have a couple of friends that will be here and will try to keep you posted via them. Bite was so good today that I fished for 10 minuets while one of the guys took a break and caught 6 fish and missed that many more. total count for the day...you wouldn't believe me if I told you!
