| WHAT A GREAT DAY! Today was one of those days that starter off on a good foot and wound up on another good foot. Walked into the restraint to have breakfast and whom do I see but (I'm going to butcher their names) Ed Jobirouski, good friend and love it when he & I get to fish together, Kefty Krey, how he can remember my name from year to year is beyond me, Dan Blanton, Rick Pope from Temple Fork, and Buzz Brison as well as the colorful local folks that turned me on to the Roanoke River. Left there to put the boat in and meet my longest clients, John McAlester & Brian Dettiers for a wonderful day of fly fishing. The fog was on the river the first thing and at times it looked like mini water spouts, very neat, never saw this before. Fishing was slow but wound up on a nice bite and had 23 fish by 11:45 when we called it lunch time. Met back about 3 pm to fish till dark. Got to spend some time with Lefty and Ed before John & Brian got back and as normal, Lefty was his joking self and had all of us laughing and crying at the same time. Fishing started off slow for the PM but found a nice bite late and ended the day with 45 nice ones. 2 highlights of the day, Hang on Wahoo, a HEN bearded turkey and a Great Blue Heroin landing in the middle of the river. |
